week 7

Christmas is coming! The letters to the military have been sent out. We got about 110 letters from our school by itself. We are pleased to say that after going through the letters we loved what everyone had to say and how nice and involved people are. The letters were sent out on December 2nd , the military will receive these letters by Christmas. I am really hoping they write back to everyone and that this project turns out to be more than we excepted. We also would like to let you know that instead of sending our letters out to a million thanks we sent them to another organization called operation gratitude. The reason we did this was because A Million thanks was full so we changed it last minute, but sure enough the letters were sent out on time and will be sent to the military. Lastly we would like to thank everyone who has written to the military and been involved with our project. You helped put a smile on a soldiers face! Thank you!!

week 6

We are getting started! This week we are finally talking some action. We are writing to the teachers and other schools telling them about our project and getting them involved. We will be sending out these letters by Monday. Our goal is to start getting letters in two weeks from now. I passed out most of the letters today, Wednesday 13, and i am very excited to finally start receiving letters and send them to out troops.  Our first deadline is November 22, this will be for Christmas. Most teachers were very excited and happy with our project, they really looked like they would get involved and get their students to write to our military. Lastly I am hoping that these letters come out sincere and tasteful. we will be working with A Million thanks, which has sent over a million letters to our troops. That's amazing ! For more information about A Million Thanks please go to http://www.amillionthanks.org/.

Week 2

Lets get started! Getting a whole bunch of people to write to the military is harder than it looks! Especially for a couple high school students like my partner Emily and myself. Our first step too making it happen is trying to get other organizations, schools, and churches to join in on the fun. So these next couple days we will be trying figure out who's in and who's out. Instead of just two letters being sent out we are attempting to have fifty to one hundred letters sent out every holiday. Sound achievable? I think so! Also, for anyone that feels like joining in and making even one person smile feel free to write the military a letter and mail it.We won't be leaving the military out this year!

Week 1

Writing to people you don't know is always a bit awkward, but writing to people that fight for you as a person and our country everyday is a way more exciting. People get lonely no matter where they are, but if you could change that would you? What if you could change it for your military? For the twenty percent project Emily and I are going to spread a little joy and appreciation to our military and send then letters on the holidays telling them how much we appreciate them. To do so, during the holidays we will go to different schools and churches and attempt to have them join us in making the cards and letters. The holidays we will be writing cards and letters for are Christmas, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Valentines day, and many more. Our purpose in this project is simply to spread a little appreciation and joy as I said before but also to keep our military a little company while they are risking their lives for us. My main purpose is to put a smile on someones face, during this project I hope I do so more than once.
